Centralized Record of Available Technical Equipment

The Centralized Record of Available Technical Equipment ( CRATE ) was created at the beginning of 2007 by the European Agency for Operational Cooperation at the External Borders (FRONTEX) for the coordination of the technical equipment available for the control and surveillance of the EU's external borders.

The technical equipment available in the 27 member states includes 21 aircraft, 27 helicopters, 116 ships as well as mobile radar units and special technical equipment (as of July 2007). The individual member states can request the necessary equipment for a limited time.
