The Centro Cooperativista Uruguayo (CCU) is a Uruguayan non-governmental organization .

Structural data

The CCU, organized as a non-profit association ( Asociación civil sin fines de lucro ), was founded in November 1961. It has its own legal personality and has a seat in Montevideo and Paysandú . The CCU is both a co-founder and a member of the Confederación Uruguaya de Entidades Cooperativas (CUDECOOP), the Asociación Nacional de Organizaciones No Gubernamentales (ANONG), the Asociación de Entidades de Capacitación (ADECA), and the Asociación de Organización de Latino the Habitat International Coalition (HIC). The current (status: 2004) President of the CCU isGraciela Fernández .

Field of activity

The field of activity of the CCU, which is active nationwide in both rural and urban areas, is the housing sector, in which it works towards improving the social and economic infrastructure and offers technical assistance and information. This should contribute to the promotion of self-reliance of those people who are active in the area of ​​cooperatives or self-help groups.
