The Cerberus FTP Server (also CerberusFTP) is on Windows -based FTP server. The server software supports both encrypted FTP sessions ( FTPS and SFTP ) and access via a web client via HTTP and HTTPS .

In addition, the server offers a virtual file system . The users are authenticated either via local users or groups, via a linked LDAP or Active Directory, or via public key authentication .

history

The Cerberus FTP server was originally developed by Grant Averett in January 2000 . The first release appeared in March 2001. The software is now being further developed and maintained by the US company Cerberus, LLC .

Name meaning

The name is derived from Kerberos , the three-headed hellhound. The logo accordingly consists of three stylized dog heads.
