Cercle Beethoven

The Cercle Beethoven (Beethoven Circle) was a French - East German cultural relationship that existed from the late 1950s to 1968.

Goals, participants

The aim was a cultural exchange and a basic dialogue between French and GDR artists and cultural scientists . The starting point was the collaboration between the French musicologist Brigitte Massin and her Swiss colleague Harry Goldschmidt, who lives in the GDR . Her husband Jean Massin and the soprano Irèn Joachim also belonged to the circle .
