action

season 1

Chad is the "younger, less famous brother" of Darth Vader. He resembles the latter exactly in appearance and appearance (black armor, black helmet, cape), but works in a supermarket called Empire Market (Imperial Market) as a day shift manager (leader of the day shift). He solves problems with the elements known from the Star Wars films (laser sword, levitating objects, stranglehold) and with similar linguistic expression: Customer complaints are answered with Release your Anger (let your anger run wild), he speaks to his superiors with master . In the course of the series Chad loses his post to his competitor Clint , the previous Night Shift Manager (head of the night shift), and has to take over his post. Chad disagrees with this decision and quits his job. From then on, he initially fell into a depressive phase, but soon thought about looking for a new job. However, he is not very successful at this, so that a short time later he returns to his old employer. After his previous boss no longer wants to hire him, however, he succeeds in discrediting his competitor Clint and ultimately regaining his old post. His employees are happy to see him return, as Chad, despite his strange personality, is more popular than his competitor Clint.

season 2

The supermarket where Chad and his colleagues work is bought by a large retail chain. Their representative Margaret "Maggie" McCall quickly takes the reins and makes a number of changes. Among other things, she makes the previous store manager Randy the head of the night shift, where he loses his mind more and more. She issues strict rules for the staff, making herself unpopular. For example, she forbids two employees from meeting privately - bad for Chad, since he has just fallen in love with Maggie's assistant Libby. Maggie turns out to be an intriguing "ruler": She sows discord between Chad and his student Jeremy and lets Chad's great love Libby be deported to her home country New Zealand. Jeremy is "seduced into power" by being retrained to become General Manager (store manager ) in a crash course - in order to fill the position to which Chad would actually be entitled. There is a showdown between the two. By an unfortunate coincidence, Jeremy kills the weird Jimmy, which makes Jeremy come to his senses. Jeremy and Chad make up.

season 3

Maggie still doesn’t give Chad the post he is entitled to, but announces a competition: Every employee of the Empire Market can be general manager for one day . Whoever does best should become the new general manager permanently . Chad is supposed to choose the manager of the day, but the choice is left to the viewer, who can determine who gets this position by selecting the next video. Vader uses his Surveillance Assailant , a Death Star- shaped surveillance camera , to monitor the other employees - but this one is destroyed in the last episode of the season. Meanwhile, Jeremy is constantly being terrorized by Jimmy's mind. After Chad's first election, Clint is given the opportunity to become a manager for a day. At the end of the season, Clint becomes general manager of another Empire Market store, Maggie becomes Night Shift manager, and Chad finally gets his long-awaited position as general manager . Chad wants to celebrate this with Jeremy, but he's sad because someone besides weird Jimmy died because of him. He is also confused: Jimmy's ghost told him Jeremy was "the one", but Jeremy doesn't understand. He is therefore leaving the market to go on a spiritual journey of discovery. Chad and his colleague Michelle eventually go on a date.

Others

  • The original of the series was published in English. There are German subtitles for many episodes and German dubbed versions for individual episodes .
  • The two main characters Chad Vader and Clint are played by the two creators of the series Aaron Yonda and Matt Sloan themselves. Matt Sloan not only takes on the role of Clint, but also speaks the electronically distorted voice of Chad.
  • Numerous allusions to the Star Wars films are built into the series. Thus, Chad regularly appears as a ghost wearing the Jedi Knight's Outfit, which is obviously a nod to Obi-Wan Kenobi , who appears regularly in the original films to Luke Skywalker . In episode 7 of the first season, an employee of the supermarket is locked in a garbage can, in which he finds out that there is still something living in it. This is a reference to Star Wars Episode IV , in which the heroes Luke, Leia Organa and Han Solo end up locked in a trash compactor in the first Death Star where they find themselves in undesirable company. In episode 2 of the first season, Chad tells that he had to wear his suit because of a bicycle accident in which he fell into a volcano - a reference to Star Wars Episode III . In addition, lines of text from the films are quoted verbatim.
