Chalee Tennison (born April 11, 1969 in Texas ) is an American country singer .

Beginnings

Chalee's childhood was marked by frequent changes of residence and constant new love affairs with her multiple divorced mother. The only constant in her life was her grandmother, who also aroused her interest in music. She formed a duet with her sister and wrote her first songs when she was thirteen.

She married very early, but the marriage ended in divorce soon after having a daughter. A second short marriage followed. After various jobs in supermarkets and department stores, she became a guard in a women's prison. At a concert she met her third husband, whom she married in 1990 at the age of twenty-one. For a while she worked as a singer in his band. The third marriage, which resulted in two daughters, lasted eight years.

Career

From the mid-1990s, she began spending more and more time in Nashville . Some demo tapes came into the hands of producer Jerry Taylor, who signed them for the Asylum label in 1999. In the same year her first album was released, for which she contributed several songs as a co-author. A little later she appeared for the first time in the Grand Ole Opry , where she impressed the audience with her expressive voice.

In 2001 their second album, A Woman's Heart , was released, from which Go Back, the only single that was able to make it onto the charts, was released. Despite her dazzling looks and singing qualities, the sales of her CDs remained disappointing. Part of this was due to the label's poor promotion.

In late 2001, Chalee Tennison married the guitarist of her backing band. It was their fourth marriage. She changed the record company and released her third album, Parading In The Rain , in 2003 . After again unsatisfactory sales, she soon lost her record deal here too.
