Chan al-Baghdadi ( Arabic خان البغدادي, DMG Ḫān al-Baġdādī , Khan al-Baghdadi or al-Baghdadi ) is an Iraqi city in the governorate of al-Anbar . It lies on the banks of the Euphrates .
On October 4, 2011, two suicide bombers attacked a building belonging to the security forces, with one detonating his explosive belt. As a result, seven insurgents stormed the complex and took 25 hostages. The police and army eventually violently ended the hostage situation. A total of eleven people died. In February 2015, ISIS fighters burned at least 45 people alive in Chan al-Baghdadi.
