Channel Africa is the international service of the South African public service broadcaster SABC .

history

Channel Africa developed in the final phase of South African apartheid in 1992 from the predecessor Radio RSA . Since then, the foreign service has been transformed into a broadcaster that should accompany and convey the democratic change in South Africa. The identification by which the station can be recognized also refers to this: "The Voice of the African Renaissance" .

program

The program focuses on news about South Africa and other African countries. The station reports on politics, culture and sport. Music and radio plays are also broadcast.

Program languages ​​are Chinyanja, Silozi, Kiswahili, English, French and Portuguese.

reception

It is broadcast via shortwave and satellite for South, East and West Africa as well as via live stream on the Internet. The World Radio Network was also used until 2007 .
