Chansen (Chan Sen; Thai จัน เสน ) is a village in the Amphoe Takhli , Nakhon Sawan Province , Thailand . Here is an archaeological site that goes back to prehistory .

The old town of Chansen and the Chan Sen Museum ( จัน เสน เมือง โบราณ และ พิพิธภัณฑ์ วัด จัน เสน ) contain numerous artifacts from different periods of Thai history. The old town itself consists of a site surrounded by a moat, which was surrounded by a considerable wall, outside of which a water reservoir was located.

The first two of a total of six settlement phases go back to prehistory and end around 250 AD. From the second phase there is an ivory comb that is adorned with images of horses and Buddhist symbols on one side and a goose on the other . Similar combs were found in Taxila , Pakistan .

The third and fourth phases are dated between 250 and 650 and have elements of the Dvaravati period. The material culture shows stamps made of ceramic , amulets made of pewter and bells made of bronze , similar to Oc Eo in the Mekong Delta . There are also eight bowls of a metal-black ware that can be found in Sri Lanka .

A circular trench was dug during the fifth phase of settlement, encompassing an area about 650 meters in diameter. From this period there was found a rich yield of ceramics similar to those in other places of the Dvaravati period in central Thailand .

The objects are in the Chan Sen Museum in Wat Chan Sen.
