Chanson d'Amour

Chanson d'Amour is a hit in the style of slow fox . It was composed by Wayne Shanklin and became a # 1 hit on the version of The Manhattan Transfer . Lyrically he mixes English and French phrases.

In 1958, the single Chanson d'Amour first appeared on Era Records , composed by Wayne Shanklin for the singing couple Art & Dotty Todd from New Jersey . The single climbed to number 6 in the US charts. It was the only hit of this one-hit wonder , but the duo was able to enjoy a nightclub career of several years in Las Vegas and later in Hawaii.

1976 appeared a cover version of the title by the US singing group The Manhattan Transfer on the album Coming Out . Janis Siegel took over the solo vocals . The single reached number 1 in the British charts in 1977 as well as number 6 in Switzerland and number 20 in Germany.
