Chapel Down
Chapel Down is a 48 m high hill with the remains of a statue menhir , near Higher Town on the Isle of Scilly St. Martin’s in Cornwall , England .
Chapel Down on St. Martin's is the site of a Cairns , an Entrance Graves , a field system, a menhir and a statue menhir.
The 0.9 m high statue menhir was discovered at the beginning of the 20th century, it was lost and was found again in 1989 when the bracken covering it burned down. It seems to be the upper half of a statue menhir (English Sculptured Stone), similar to those found in southern France and on the British Channel Islands ("La Gran'mère du Chimquière").
