Chapelle impériale

The Chapelle Impériale (Imperial Chapel) in Ajaccio , Corsica , also known as the Palatine Chapel, was built in 1857 by Emperor Napoléon III. built. He followed a last wish of Cardinal Fesch , a maternal uncle of Emperor Napoleon I. The cardinal was an enthusiastic art collector and connoisseur, and the proceeds from his art treasures were to be used after his death to build an imperial burial place for the Bonaparte family . The three most important representatives of the family, Napoleon I , his son, the Duke of Reichstadt , and Emperor Napoléon III. themselves, however, were not buried here.

  3. Charles Lucien Jules Laurent Bonaparte (May 24, 1803– July 29, 1857) - (nephew of Napoleon I )
  4. Zénaïde Bonaparte (1860–1862) - (daughter of Napoléon Charles Bonaparte)
  5. Louis-Lucien Bonaparte (January 4, 1813– November 3, 1891) - (nephew of Napoleon I )
  6. Napoléon Charles Bonaparte (February 5, 1839– February 12, 1899) - (Great-nephew of Napoleon I )
  7. Victor Napoléon Bonaparte (July 18, 1862– May 3, 1926) - (great-nephew of Napoleon I )
  8. Clementine of Belgium (July 30, 1872– March 8, 1955) - (wife of Victor Napoléon Bonaparte)
  9. Louis Napoléon Bonaparte (January 23, 1914– May 3, 1997) - (Head of the Bonaparte family)
