properties
'Charles Austin' has apricot-colored, cream-colored, flat flowers from pale orange to the edge, which are in clusters of 3–5 on long stems and are suitable for cutting. The petals in the center of the flower are dense and are often arranged in quarters.
The up to 3 m high shrub has fine spines and large leaves that are occasionally prone to powdery mildew or blackened soot. The second bloom comes late if little is cut back after the first pile.
Since 1981 a yellow sport , 'Yellow Charles Austin', is syn. 'AUSyel' on the market that is now grown as frequently as the original variety.
