Charles Busson (born July 15, 1822 in Montoire-sur-le-Loir , † April 4, 1908 in Paris ) was a French landscape painter .

Life

Charles Busson was a student of Louis Français in Paris . In his landscapes he preferred to treat wide heather areas, which by simply drawing the lines and by peculiar lighting turned into attractive atmospheric images; so he also painted fog that rises from the meadows when the sun sets. Sometimes his landscapes are rich in content, friendlier and decorated with animals. Charles Busson was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1866 .

Work (selection)

His works include “The moats of Lavardin Castle”, “After the Rain” and “The Village of Lavardin” (1877). “The old mill pond near Montoire” was also very successful in 1879.
