Charles Thomson

Charles Thomson (born February 6, 1953 in Romford , Essex ) is a British artist who lives in London .

Life

Charles Thomson studied at Maidstone College of Art from 1975 to 1979, but did not graduate. In the 1980s Charles Thomson took over Victoria Press London, where the book “Stuckism international. The Stuckism decade 1999 - 2009 “was published. He was also a member of the performance group "The Medway Poets" in the 1980s.

At the end of the 1990s, he and the musician Wild Billy Childish founded the artist group The Stuckists , which took action against the contemporary art mainstream. In 2000, Thomson and the Childish organized an exhibition to protest the prestigious Turner Prize.

From 2002 to 2005 Thomson ran a gallery, the "Stuckism international Gallery", in which he exhibited work by the Stuckists.

Charles Thomson was briefly married to the artist Stella Vine.
