Charleston dresses from 1928

Charleston dress is the popular name for knee-length, waistless hanging dresses of the late 1920s and 1930s. The name is derived from the dance of the same name , which became known in Europe from 1925 (mainly through the appearances of Josephine Baker ). The Charleston dress was typical of flapper fashion . It allowed great freedom of movement and leg freedom for the fashionable dances of the time, but it was very short, which was often concealed by attached fringes. Sometimes the dresses consisted mainly of fringes or ribbons, especially for shimmies , dresses made of several layers of fringes were worn, which rhythmically resonated with the movement of the dancer.
