Chartered Insurance Institute

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is a professional association for the insurance industry in the UK .

The association was founded in 1912 as a union of several British insurance associations by royal charter . The institute mainly offers courses in insurance professions which are also recognized outside of the UK. As of July 2011, the CII has over 100,000 members in 150 countries.

The current qualifications in ascending order: Cert CII, Dip CII, Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) and Fellowship CII (FCII). ACII and FCII accredited members are eligible to apply for “Chartered Insurer” status. This is based on proof of experience in the insurance industry.
