Chief Inspector of the Customs Administration of the German Democratic Republic

The chief inspector of the customs administration of the German Democratic Republic was the highest rank of the customs administration and until June 29, 1987 corresponded to the rank of a major general of the National People's Army or the German People's Police . As of June 30, 1987 this rank was the equivalent of a means of implementing instruction lieutenant general enhanced the NVA and DVP and the newly created rank of principal inspector took the former position of chief inspector.

Anton Ruh held this rank until 1962 and Gerhard Stauch , head of the customs administration of the GDR, from 1963 ; after his retirement on January 15, 1990 Günther Arndt .
