Cheilitis is the medical term for inflammation of the lips . It is characterized by inflammation of the skin or the lining of the lip . There are numerous sub-forms.
Lower forms
- Granulomatous cheilitis : Inflammation of the lip with nodules. It can occur alone or as part of a systemic disease. In children, it can be an indicator of Crohn's disease .
- Actinic cheilitis : Acute or chronic light damage to the lip (e.g. sunburn ). There is an acute and a chronic form. In its chronic form, it can develop into squamous cell carcinoma .
- Exfoliative cheilitis : Chronic form of simplex cheilitis .
- Precancerous abrasive cheilitis : Special form of actinic cheilitis
- Angular cheilitis : An inflammation of the corner of the mouth . You can with Rhagade accompanied nbildung. Can occur as part of sunitinib (Sutent) treatment, which can be treated symptomatically with greasy ointments.
