history

The history of the club, founded in 1911, was interrupted for 45 years in 1945, as it was dissolved by Directive No. 23 of the Allied Control Council of December 17, 1945, like all sports organizations and clubs in Germany. From 1946 sport could continue to be practiced at the local level in a loosely organized sports community. After sport was organized in so-called company sports associations (BSG) in East Germany from 1948 , the Wolfen paint factory , whose facilities were largely located on Greppin territory, founded BSG Chemie Greppin. However, it was always overshadowed by the much larger BSG Chemie Wolfen , which was also supported by the paint factory. The Greppiner was only able to attract national attention at times through their soccer team.

As early as 1946/47, SG Greppin competed in the Bitterfeld district football championship and won the title of district champion. In 1951/52 BSG Chemie took part in the state championships in Saxony-Anhalt and reached 6th place among 14 teams, with which the BSG qualified for the newly created third-class Halle district league . Already in the first district league year, 5th place was achieved, a year later the BSG Chemie became district champion and thus achieved promotion to the GDR league , the second highest division in GDR football. The strength of the team was not enough to stay in the league, so the Greppiner at the end of the 1954/55 season had to relegate to the new third-class II. GDR league . They were able to stay there until 1959, but this year they were relegated as the last of their season to the fourth-class Halle district league. Greppin was represented in this league until 1966, even reaching second place in 1965 and 1966, before relapsing to 17th place in 1967. This was synonymous with relegation to the fourth-class district class Halle, in the chemistry Greppin with the exception of the season 1968/69, in which a guest appearance was given in the district league, remained until the end of GDR football.

In 2008 VfB entered the district league Bitterfeld Ost, 10th league in the DFB game operations.
