Chemical conditioning

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Among chemical conditioning is meant the targeted influencing of the properties of a solution or a suspension by the addition of suitable chemical substances. The aim is to suppress undesirable side reactions such as the precipitation of poorly soluble salts.

This is often used in cooling circuits , for example in power plants . For this purpose, chelating agents are added to the water , which prevent the precipitation of poorly soluble salts such as calcium or magnesium carbonate . Another possibility is the targeted adjustment of the pH value .

Another area of application for chemical conditioning is the treatment of sewage sludge . Suitable flocculants are added to the sewage sludge for dewatering.
