Chemnitz Theater Prize

The Chemnitz Theater Prize is awarded by a jury made up of theater professionals, critics and a member of the Chemnitzer Theaterfördervereinfor contemporary German-language young drama . The patron was u. a. Lutz Huebner , an author of contemporary German theater.

history

The Chemnitz Theater awarded the prize for the first time in 2014. It is endowed with 5000 euros. The aim is to support authors who are at the beginning of their professional, dramatic work and who deal artistically with virulent contemporary issues. Initially, the award was only for authors up to 35 years of age, but the age limit was lifted for the first time in 2017. The award is linked to the option of a world premiere at the Chemnitz theater.
