Cheng Xuanying ( Chinese  成玄英 , Pinyin Chéng Xuányīng , W.-G. Ch'eng Hsüan-ying ; bl. 631–655) was a Daoist monk (who made it up to the "Xihua master" 西 华 法师) and main representative the " School of the Double Myterium " ( Chongxuan ) of the Taizong and Gaozong periods of the early Tang Dynasty . He emerged through his commentaries on Daodejing and Zhuangzi (= Nanhua zhenjing ).

Zhuangzi comment

He wrote one of the most important older Zhuangzi commentaries, the sub-commentary (shu 疏), which is valuable because of its concise explanations and new phonetic glosses. The notes represent an expansion and verification of Guo Xiang's comment - with which the text was always transmitted together. The commentary is contained in the Daoist canon .
