Chenye Monastery

Chenye Monastery ( Chenye Gönpa , Tibetan སྤྱན་ གཡས་ དགོན་པ་ Wylie spyan gyas dgon pa "Right Eye Gönpa ") is a former monastery of the Kadam tradition from the 11th century. It was founded by Geshe Dragpa ( Tib. Dge bshes grags pa ) was founded and is now a Gelugpa Monastery.

It is located in Gyelmen Township ( rgyal sman ; Chin. Jiama 加 麻 乡) in Qonggyai (Chonggye) County of Shannan (Lhoka) Government in Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China .

The most precious relic was the right eye of Shariputra , the main disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha , after which the temple was named "Right Eye Temple" (Chenye Lhakhang).

The monastery is on the list of monuments of the Tibet Autonomous Region .
