Chest (unit)

Chest was a unit of mass (measure of weight) for tea in the Kingdom of England. In Asia, here in Penang , opium was also traded below this level.

  • 1 chest = 38.1 kilograms
  • 1 Chest = 2 factory man = 160 lbs = 72.57 kilograms for opium
  • 1 Chest = 8 boxes ≈ 1200 pounds (Av.dp)
