Chevalier d'Herbain

The Chevalier d'Herbain (first name unknown, * around 1730–34 in Paris , † 1769 ibid) was a French composer .

Chevalier d'Herbain embarked on a military career and became captain of the cavalry. His first three operas were written in a garrison in Italy. Il geloso was premiered in Rome in 1751 and later played in Florence, the world premieres of Il trionfo del Giglio and La Lavinia took place in Bastia in 1751 and 1753 respectively. An opera ballet, a comic opera and a comedy with arietas were created in Paris and premiered at the Académie royale and the Comédie-Italienne .
