Chinanta

Chinanta was a unit of mass ( measure of weight ) in various Southeast Asian countries. On the islands of the Philippines it was in effect until 1860, the year of the introduction of metric measures and weights.

  • 1 Chinanta = 10 Cates = 160 Taels = 6.255 kilograms (after 6.3262 kilograms)
  • 10 chinantas = 1 picul = 62,550 kilograms
