Chinasat 10 (ZX 10, SinoSat 5) is a commercial Chinese communications satellite .
It was placed in geostationary orbit on June 20, 2011 at 4:13 pm UTC by a Long March 3B launcher from the Xichang launch site in southwest China's Sichuan Province. Around 26 minutes after take-off, Chinasat 10 was separated from the last rocket stage and placed in a super-synchronous transfer orbit with an inclination of around 26.3 °.
It is to serve from the position 110.5 ° East for the China Direct Broadcast Satellite Corporation (CHINA DBSAT) or China Satcom as a replacement for the Chinasat 5B (SinoSat 1) launched on July 18, 1998 and from there with C and Ku-band transponders provide users in the Asian and Pacific regions with telecommunications services. The transponders were supplied by Thales Alenia Space . The satellite, built by the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST) under the direction of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), is based on the Chinese DFH-4 satellite bus . Its launch mass is around 5,100 kilograms and its planned lifespan is 13.5 years, according to the Xinhua news agency.
