The Chinese jump is a running technique in badminton .

definition

The Chinese jump is a running technique for quickly reaching balls on the forehand. The technique was developed in China and is used to reach a ball while jumping. In contrast to the jump, however, the movement is stopped with the leg on the side of the punch, which is anatomically unfavorable due to the slight twisting of the upper body during the punch, but is nevertheless effective in practice. A Chinese jump can be done parallel to the net on the forehand and backhand side as well as diagonally backwards. However, the hit that is executed during the jump is always a forehand hit.

execution

The walk begins in the central position. To move into the back of the forehand or the back midfield, start with a push of the left foot to the right. This is followed by either a sidestep or a cross step. The jump takes place from both legs at the same time. The feet are about shoulder width apart. It is struck during the jump. The landing occurs again on both legs at the same time and immediately initiates the counter-movement towards the central position. With the Chinese jump, balls hit sharply in the fore corner can also be easily reached. Disadvantages of the running technique are the high expenditure of force that results from the two jumps, as well as the reduced impact force, since the upper body cannot be used as a flywheel.
