Chip Peterson

Chip Peterson (born December 3, 1987 in Morehead City , North Carolina , USA) is an American long-distance swimmer.

Chip Peterson won gold over 10 kilometers ahead of German Thomas Lurz at the 2005 World Swimming Championships in Montréal , as well as silver over the 5 kilometers behind Lurz. In 2005 he was named Open Water Swimmer of the Year together with Thomas Lurz .

In 2006 he won the 10 km open water at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Victoria . At the Open Water National Championships 2007 he won over 5 and 10 kilometers.
