Chipping Norton Railway Station

The Chipping Norton Railway was a British railway company based in Oxfordshire , England.

The company was founded on July 31, 1854 to build a 7 kilometer line from Kingham on the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway . The standard gauge line was opened on June 1, 1855. The main owner of the company was OW&WR. In 1859 the company took over the remaining shares in the company. In 1863 the company was taken over by the Great Western Railway .

In 1873 the Chipping Norton Railway founded the Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway together with the Bourton-on-the-Water Railway , which extended the route from Chipping Norton to Kings Sutton .
