Bourton-on-the-Water Railway

The Bourton-on-the-Water Railway was a railway company based in Gloucestershire , England .

The company received the right to build a railway line from Chipping Northern Junction near Kingham on the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway to Bourton-on-the-Water on June 14, 1860 . The operation on the line took place from the opening on March 1, 1862 by the West Midland Railway and later the Great Western Railway (GWR). The construction of an extension to Cheltenham , approved on July 25, 1864, was canceled in 1867, as the Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway was founded to build this route.

On February 1, 1874, the GWR took over the company.
