The chloromethyl group , CH 2 −Cl, is a single-bonded radical in organic and macromolecular chemistry.

Manufacturing

Aromatic compounds can be chloromethylated by the Blanc reaction . A Merrifield resin for the Merrifield synthesis ( solid phase synthesis of peptides ) can be produced from a (possibly cross-linked) polystyrene resin .
