Chocolatey is an application-oriented package manager for Windows operating systems developed by Rob Reynolds since 2011 . It can be controlled via the optional GUI or with text commands in the command line ( input prompt or PowerShell ). It automates downloading , installing and updating applications.

The text mode simplifies and speeds up the installation of a large number of applications. In addition, all applications installed with Chocolatey can be updated choco upgrade all -yvery efficiently using .
