Cholemia
Under cholemia ( Greek chole "bile" haima "blood") refers to a poisoning of the blood with bile components .
In cholemia, the blood level of bile acids and bile pigments increases , which among other things leads to a yellow coloration of the serum .
The reason for this is an obstruction or closure of the draining biliary tract or damage to the liver cells themselves.
This leads to difficulties with fat digestion , jaundice and itching , a tendency towards tissue bleeding, a slow heartbeat ( bradycardia ) and, due to the associated metabolic disorders, autointoxication . The worst consequence would be a cholemic coma .
