Chris Niemeyer

Chris Niemeyer (* 1973 in Zurich ) is a Swiss film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Chris Niemeyer attended the secondary school in Zurich after primary school. He studied at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires from 1992 to 1994 . In 1994 he began studying film / video at the Zurich University of Art and Design , from which he graduated in 1999. His diploma film Timing was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize 2000. In 2003, Niemeyer founded the production company Plan B Film , which produces advertising films and music videos, among other things. In 2005 he took part in the Berlinale Talent Campus . For his short fiction film Las Pelotas (2009) about male football fans who want to create the ideal football player, Niemeyer was awarded the Swiss Film Prize 2010 in the category Best Short Film. The film also won several awards at film festivals, including the Pardino d'oro for the best Swiss short film at the Locarno Film Festival in 2009 and audience awards at the São Paulo International Short Film Festival 2010 and Vienna Independent Shorts 2010. Niemeyer wrote together with the artist Pipilotti Rist the script for the feature film Pepperminta (2009).
