The Christian Schad Archive was created in 1972 from the close and friendly collaboration between Günter A. and Marie-Luise Richter (Edition GA Richter) and Christian Schad. The GA Richter edition subsequently published graphic works by Schads and ensured that the artist was rediscovered. It was acquired by the city of Miesbach at the end of 2017 and opened at its new location in the Miesbach town hall on May 6, 2018. Together with the approximately 150 works of Schad's graphic collection, which is owned by the city as an independent collection, there is a unique treasure trove for researching the artist and person Christian Schad as well as the artistic styles of Dadaism and the magical that influenced him and influenced him Realism.

The Christian Schad Archive is located as an independent department of the city archive in the town hall of Miesbach. After the inventory has been developed, it should be accessible to the public. The black-and-white documentation of paintings and works on paper rests in eleven boxes, five boxes contain ektachromes of his paintings, partly recordings of images that are no longer accessible, the documentation of his early 1919 Schadographs as photo reproductions, the contact negatives of the prints to the Schadographs by the artist reworked and approved for printing.
