Christian Bonatti
Christian Bonatti (born May 13, 1960 in Northern France) is a French mathematician who deals with dynamic systems and scrolling .
Bonatti received his doctorate from Harold William Rosenberg at the University of Paris-Süd in 1984 ( Sur l'existence et la stabilité des feuilletages sur des variétés de dimension 3 et 4 ). He is a professor at the University of Burgundy in Dijon and at the Institut de Mathématiques de Bordeaux. He also does research for the CNRS .
In 2009, together with Sylvain Crovisier and Amie Wilkinson , he solved the centralizer problem for diffeomorphisms in the case. The problem was one of Stephen Smale's list of 18 open problems ( Smale Problems , 1998).
In 2000 he received the Prix Servant . In 2002 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Beijing ( generic dynamics: tame and wild behavior).
