Christian Council of Nigeria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Christian Council of Nigeria ( English Christian Council of Nigeria ) is an umbrella organization of various Christian churches and organizations.

It was founded in 1929 and currently represents 14 churches and 6 Christian organizations. The council (abbreviated to CCN ) has two departments, the Institute for Church and Society and the "Daystar Press".

The CCN is currently in the process of revising its constitution. In the mission statement, the goal is formulated: "To put the member churches in a position to work sustainably for a Christian lifestyle, Christian witness and the transformation of Nigerian society".

After the founding of the Christian Association of Nigeria in 1976, another Christian umbrella organization within which the Roman Catholic Church in Nigeria and numerous Pentecostal churches are represented, the CCN has lost its importance within Nigeria.
