Christian Janecke

Christian Janecke (* 1964 in Wuppertal ) is a German art historian and professor at the Offenbach University of Design .

Life

Christian Janecke studied art history with a minor in philosophy a. Sociology at the universities of Frankfurt am Main, Vienna and Saarbrücken, the doctorate took place in 1993. Janecke was initially a lecturer at the University of the Arts Berlin (at that time still Hochschule der Künste, HdK) and at the FhTW Berlin , then from 1995 to 2001 a scientist Assistant to the HfBK Dresden - at the same time and afterwards lecturer a. a. at the AdBK Nuremberg , at the TU Dresden , as well as the Palucca School, University of Artistic Dance, Dresden . From April 2002 to March 2005 he held the Wella Foundation Lecturer for Fashion and Aesthetics at TU Darmstadt . During this time, he also completed his habilitation at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg , which, however, did not refer to fashion theory, but to questions in the field between art and theater, stage design and performance.

After a year as a substitute professor, Christian Janecke has been professor of art history at the HfG Offenbach since March 2006 . His work and research focus are in the fields of modern and contemporary art (especially performance art, project art and art in public spaces); Art and theater or stage design in interaction since the baroque; Art theory and discussion of theory and method of art history; Fashion (theories), hairstyle, cosmetics in special cultural and art-scientific issues from approx. 1800 until today. As well as questions (spanning epochs or decennia) u. a. on the terms: container, kitsch, zoo, body, life style, advertising, design.
