Christian Ridil (born June 12, 1943 in Breslau ) is a German composer , choir director and musicologist .

biography

Christian Ridil attended the Regensburger Domspatzen high school, where he gained his first musical experience. From 1963 he studied school music and composition with Günter Bialas at the State Music Academy in Munich. From 1968 to 1984 Ridil taught school music at the Justus-von-Liebig-Gymnasium in Neusäß near Augsburg. In 1976 he founded the Augsburger Vokal-Ensemble (AVE) together with other former Regensburger Domspatzen and directed it until 1987. The AVE became known far beyond the borders of Augsburg in numerous concerts, radio and vinyl recordings, as well as world premieres.

From 1980 to 1983 he was a lecturer at the Catholic University in Eichstätt, and he also studied musicology at the University of Augsburg from 1980 to 1986. In 1984 he was appointed to the Musicological Institute of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In addition to the music theory courses and seminars, he led the Frankfurt University Music, which consisted of choirs, orchestras and chamber music ensembles.

With the chamber choir of the JWG-Universität Frankfurt, founded in 1987 (selection ensemble), numerous concerts in Germany and abroad were presented in addition to a series of media publications (CDs, TV). a. Hungary, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Mexico.

From 1992 to 1993 he taught at the College of New Jersey in Trenton (USA) as an Exchange Professor. In 1994 he was appointed university music director in Frankfurt am Main. In June 2010, Ridil received an honorary doctorate from the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
