Christian Torpe

Christian Torpe (born May 12, 1978 on Fyn ) is a Danish screenwriter .

Life

Christian Torpe studied writing at Mulernes Legatskole and completed a degree in film and media studies at the University of Copenhagen . He learned screenwriting from Nancy Steen and Fred Rubin . After completing his studies, he occasionally wrote scripts for short films and series episodes.

Torpe had his big break in 2012 with the television series Rita . In this dramey series, Mille Dinesen plays the single parent teacher Rita, who tries to cope with her life. The series became both a critical and popular hit. It has one of the highest ratings on Danish television and Torpe has been nominated and awarded several prestigious television awards for his role as showrunner and screenwriter. The German-language broadcast can be seen on Netflix .

He lives and works in both Los Angeles and Copenhagen .
