history

The carpenter Roman Mayan, employed in the salt mine in Bad Friedrichshall , fell ill with rheumatism , whereupon he asked not only doctors but also God for help. After he recovered, he and friends built a forest chapel in 1933, which was later extended by a roof turret with a bell.

The chapel was inaugurated on Christ the King's Festival in 1933. In 1936 Mayan and his helpers laid out a way of the cross consisting of 14 stations. However, due to multiple damage in the 1970s, this was moved to the western outside of the Jagstfeld Church of the Resurrection . A portrait of the Virgin was let into an extension on the west side of the chapel .

In the 1970s, the chapel fell victim to more and more vandalism , which is why consideration was given to dismantling it. In 1978 the chapel was taken over by the Bad Friedrichshall Catholic Church Community, which renovated it in 1980 and 1994.

The precious statue of Christ the King was smashed in 2007.

In addition to numerous devotions, a wedding also took place in the heavily frequented chapel.
