The Christian Education Initiative eV (cbi eV) is a network of those interested in political education with young people and young adults. The association, registered at the Hanover District Court since May 28, 2010, was the sponsoring association of the Christian Schoolchildren Working Group (acs) , an association for student work in the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover , until 2009 . On December 31, 2009, the association ceased its work under this name in the regional church. Since then, all activities have been carried out by the cbi.

Since 1968, the cbi and its predecessor associations have taken on the task of conveying social, political, ethical and historical topics to young people. The association is a platform and network for impulses for political education and student work. This includes socio-political educational measures as well as the creation and dissemination of working materials on socio-political topics.

In November 2007, the cbi received the Dialog Prize of the German-Polish Society Federal Association , through which the association's commitment to the encounter between German and Polish youth was recognized.

organization structure

The cbi works project-oriented and on a voluntary basis. The board of the association provides the administrative framework for projects and secures the organizational infrastructure.

working area

The cbi conducts seminars on various topics related to political education with young people and young adults. Study trips and international encounters with a focus on coming to terms with National Socialism , memorial site education and international understanding are an essential part of numerous projects. Other topics such as economics and ethics , risk society , right-wing extremism or the transformation process in Eastern Europe are dealt with in workshops, seminars and further training courses. In Germany and in the countries involved in encounter projects, contemporary problems are to be identified together with young people and young adults, a critical awareness to be created and an incentive to be given to committed action.
