Christian Deaf Community

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian deaf communities and Christian deaf communities (both abbreviated as CGG ) are associations or communities organized in a free church. Such associations exist in many countries. In the German-speaking area such clubs are often called CGG .

Due to the existing communication barriers, deaf people who are oriented towards free churches are excluded from the offers of normal free churches, which are usually based on spoken language, which is why they form communities of like-minded people. Through such communities deaf at church services, Bible lessons can or to the offered house groups participate. Some communities work with free churches that are affiliated to the Association of Evangelical Free Churches in Germany or the Association of Evangelical Free Churches and Congregations in Switzerland . This is also done with a view to avoiding any drifting away from isolated communities into sectarian areas.

In Germany and Austria several Christian deaf communities exist independently of one another. The "CGG Switzerland" is a national association in Switzerland , which is divided into five local groups.

Some communities produce media suitable for the deaf, for example Bible books are translated into sign language or lexicons with Christian words are created in sign language so that the deaf can understand the content. In some countries, such as England or Sweden , such sign language works were honored at the highest level.
