Christoph Dornier Clinic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Christoph Dornier Clinic for Psychotherapy is a private clinic in the city center of Münster (Westphalia) that was opened in 1993 and licensed under Section 30 of the Trade Regulations .

The establishment was initiated by Christoph Dornier , a son of the aircraft pioneer Claude Dornier, initially as the “Christoph Dornier Center for Clinical Psychology”. Since 1998 - the year the Psychotherapists Act (PsychThG) was enacted - the facility, which up to that point had been run exclusively psychologically, also received medical management and has been called the "Christoph Dornier Clinic" ever since.

Support has been provided by the Professional Association of German Psychologists (BDP) since it was founded .

The clinic specializes in treatment based on the principles of psychotherapeutic methods of cognitive behavioral therapy . Depending on the disorder, all three so-called "waves" of behavior therapy are used:

The therapeutic work in the sense of the first wave includes, for example, exercises such as role play, exposure therapy or behavioral experiments. The focus is on behavior. The second wave focuses on thoughts. Cognitive distortions , which contribute to the development and maintenance of mental disorders, are identified and processed. The third wave focuses on emotional processes and discusses questions of value and meaning. Therapeutic techniques such as clarification-oriented psychotherapy (KOP) according to Sachse , schema therapy , mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy ( ACT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) are used and possible critical functionalities of diseases are taken into account.

The particular effectiveness of the clinic is made possible by the concept of inpatient intensive individual psychotherapy and is checked psychometrically.

The clinic's range of treatments includes the therapy of anxiety disorders , depression , eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa ), media addiction , personality disorders , trauma-related disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders .

The range of treatments is aimed at adult patients and adolescents aged 14 and over.
