Christopher Küken (* 1984 ) is a former German swimmer. He participated in the 2004 Summer Paralympics .

Life

Chicks swam for the Association for Sports Therapy and Disabled Sports 1980 (VSB 1980) in Magdeburg . The handicapped due to congenital cerebral palsy of the legs started in the starting class S8 . He was German champion several times and won second place at the 2002 World Cup in Argentina . At the Canadian Open 2003, he won gold twice. In 2004 he set a European record and in the same year won silver in the 400 meter freestyle at the Summer Paralympics in Athens . He finished fourth in the 100 meter freestyle, fifth over 1000 meters back, seventh over 50 meters freestyle and eighth over 200 meters medley. He won various gold, silver and bronze medals at German championships.

Awards

In 2004, Küken signed the city of Magdeburg's Golden Book . In the election for Magdeburg of the year 2004, he reached second place. For winning the silver medal at the 2004 Paralompic Games in Athens, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Horst Köhler .
