The Christophorus-Kliniken GmbH is a hospital with three sites in Coesfeld , Dülmen and Nottuln with a total of about 620 beds and 1,950 employees. Around 60,000 inpatients and outpatients are treated annually. Since 2012 they have been an academic teaching hospital of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster and train young doctors.

The Christophorus Clinic emerged in 2006 from the merger of three hospitals in Coesfeld, Dülmen and Nottuln, which were founded in the mid-19th century.

Sponsorship

Christophorus-Kliniken GmbH is a subsidiary of Christophorus Trägergesellschaft, to which the Klinik am Schlossgarten in Dülmen also belongs as a specialist hospital for psychiatry and psychosomatics. The clinics are connected to three old people's homes at the Coesfeld and Nottuln locations as well as to the outpatient care service VICA via the sponsoring company. The school for health professions takes care of training and further education in nursing.

description

The Christophorus Clinics have 13 specialist departments as well as 13 specialized centers such as the Breast Center, the Intestinal Center and the Social Pediatric Center.

Focus

After the merger of three individual hospitals, the Christophorus clinics have divided up tasks with the formation of treatment focuses:

Basically, the locations in Coesfeld and Dülmen provide basic services for the population in the areas of internal medicine and surgery. In Dülmen there is also an internal medicine focus with the sub-areas gastroenterology, pulmonology, cardiology and angiology. The department for neurology including a stroke unit (acute treatment in the event of a suspected stroke) rounds off the range of treatments in Dülmen.

In addition to general internal medicine, Coesfeld also specializes in internal medicine in the areas of gastroenterology as well as cardiology and angiology. Another focus of the respective clinics is the operative care in the areas of general, visceral and vascular surgery, orthopedics and trauma surgery as well as gynecology. The focus on obstetrics as well as pediatric and adolescent medicine including neonatology ("premature baby" or premature baby care) round off the specializations in Coesfeld.

The geriatric (geriatric medicine) focus is in Nottuln, suitably flanked by the special geriatric day clinic there and sensibly supplemented by a geriatric psychiatric department at the Klinik am Schlossgarten. Employees of the department are also permanently deployed at the Coesfeld (geriatric traumatology) and Dülmen locations in order - if necessary - to be able to incorporate special geriatric expertise into the respective treatment.

Diagnostics, in particular in the form of radiology (MRT, cardio-MRT, CT, X-ray) as well as a separate institute for laboratory medicine, microbiology and hygiene are available to all three locations.

Clinics and centers

The Christophorus clinics have 13 clinics: the anesthesiological clinic (anesthesia and operative intensive care medicine), the surgical clinics 1 (general, visceral, vascular, thoracic and pediatric surgery / proctology) and the surgical clinics 2 (orthopedics, trauma surgery and Endoprosthetics), the women's clinic (gynecology, obstetrics, senology and pelvic floor center) and the children's and youth clinic (pediatric, adolescent medicine and neonatology). They also offer Medical Clinics 1 (general internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, diabetology, infectious diseases, hematology & oncology, palliative medicine, pulmonology, sleep medicine), 2 (cardiology and angiology) and 3 (geriatrics, general internal medicine), as well as the Neurological Clinic (with Clinical Neurophysiology and Stroke Unit), the Radiological Clinic (Radiology and Neuroradiology) and the Institute for Laboratory Medicine, Microbiology and Hygiene. The two document departments for ophthalmology and ear, nose and throat medicine complete the wide range.

In addition, there are 13 medical centers in which specialists, nurses and therapists sometimes work together on an interdisciplinary basis, e. B. in the breast or intestinal center. In the geriatric traumatology center (photo), elderly patients who have broken bones are cared for by trauma surgeons and geriatric doctors directly after the operation. The aim is to help them regain their independence and mobility as early as possible and to return to their familiar surroundings as “fit for everyday life” as possible.

The catchment area of the perinatal center extends far beyond the district boundaries: In the Level 1 center, pregnant women can be cared for before the 29th week of pregnancy and babies with less than 1250 grams.
