Chrystalla Georghadji

Chrystalla Georghadji (born July 13, 1956 in Famagusta ) is an economist from the Republic of Cyprus . She has been President of the Central Bank of Cyprus since 2014 .

Georghadji was born in Famagusta on Cyprus and expelled from there with her family in 1974 during the Turkish occupation of the northern part of the island. She studied economics at the University of Athens until 1978 . She then completed a postgraduate degree in economics and econometrics at the University of Southampton .

She was President of the Cyprus Court of Auditors from 1998 and became Central Bank Chief in April 2014. In this function she is a member of the European Central Bank Council .
