Cina Lawson

Cina Lawson (* 1973 in Togo ) is a Togolese economist and politician. Lawson is currently Minister of Post and Digital Economy in the cabinet of Prime Minister Komi Sélom Klassou , as in the cabinets of Gilbert Houngbo (2010–2012) and in both cabinets of Kwesi Ahoomey-Zunu (2012–2015).

Life

Cina Lawson was born in Togo in 1973. After completing school, she attended the Institut d'études politiques de Paris ( Sciences Po ) from 1994 to 1996 , where she studied economics and finance. A year later graduated with a Diplôme d'études approfondies degree in applied economics. She also received a Masters degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University .

After her academic training, Lawson first moved to the World Bank in Washington, DC; There she worked from 1998 to 2000 in the field of regulatory reforms for telecommunications markets in developing countries. She then worked for Alcatel-Lucent in Paris. From 2005 to 2010, Lawson was a corporate strategy and business development manager at Orange Business Services in New York.

On May 28, 2010 Lawson was appointed to the cabinet of the Togolese Prime Minister Gilbert Houngbo , she headed the department for post and telecommunications. Even after Houngbo's resignation in July 2012, she remained in office under the new Prime Minister Kwesi Ahoomey-Zunu . Ahoomey-Zunu also called Lawson into his second administration, where she headed the post office and digital economy. After the appointment of Komi Sélom Klassou as Prime Minister, she also kept the portfolio.

The World Economic Forum named Lawson in March 2012 as one of the "Young Global Leader".
